Freezing rain overnight with more forecasted for today, then turning to snow, 1-2" of snow predicted. Cold weather coming, good for making ice. Pete and Terri from the Walleye Retreat reports 4" of ice at Four Mile Bay/Rainy River area, Morris Point reports 2" of ice on the lake. Terri thinks they may be putting houses out this weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving! Does it look like it's freezing over? Check out the webcab from Sportsmans, click here. Overnight temps recorded was 0.0 last night, with colder temps forecasted for the next 10 days. Countdown to ice-fishing begins!

No ice on the Rainy yet and our bay partially opened up with the warm weather today. Seen some boats cruise down the road this weekend. Maybe by this weekend it will start making ice again. Will keep you updated on ice conditions and our availability status for winter lodging!

Who turned the page on the calendar to January? Overnight low of -8 last night with 3" of snow on the ground sure makes it look and feel like January. It made ice on our bay last night, I assume most bays in LOW iced up. According to the weather forecast, we are going to warm up for the weekend, not that it will make a difference for fishing, that is a done deal until ice-fishing season.
We will be updating on weather, ice conditions and fishing in our area and Lake of the Woods. In the meantime, check out our links, lots of good information!

Snow amount, about an inch. NW wind today. We are done with the fall fishing season, thanks to everyone who stayed with us this year and to all those who read our reports and the nice emails we received. Overall, it was a slower than normal fishing season, as I always say, that's why they call it "fishing". Stay tuned for updates on ice conditions and keep watching our page for updates and winter availability!!

Doug and his boys fished today and caught 16 of their 18 fish limit. Doug said it was windy today, although it didn't seem to slow them down. They are excited about a Rainy River Fish Fry tonight!! Weather is going bad starting tonight into tomorrow, snow predicted anywhere from 3-5", meaning we will probably see an inch of snow, at least I hope.

Happy Birthday Rick!! Parade of boats going by this morning, anglers heading out to fish the river in this "extended" fall season. We have 3 groups fishing, will update reports as they come in. Weather forecast looks fairly good the next week, not sure how long this season will last. In 1999 we had a late fall like this, and on November 16th I pulled my 11.4 pounder and Jesse pulled his 32 incher on Thanksgiving Day! You just never know, until you try.

Can't believe the nice weather we are forecasted for the end of this week to Sunday. Report on the Rainy River Forum at FishingMinnesota.com shows the difference between anglers and their results. One group did extremely well on the river, while the others struggled. Possibly the difference of drifting vs anchoring. We have a few groups coming this weekend, give us a call for availability!

Another nice day, another day of mosquito sightings! We don't have any anglers in camp, and fishing was good when everyone headed home Friday. Weather forecast looks to be good this week, I think we will have the "extended" fall season we haven't seen for a few years. C'mon up, we are open and ready to accommodate you.

Lloyd Ebel, from Paullina, Iowa, boated a nice 29 1/2" walleye today fishing with Tom Lange and Jay Jones. They reported they were able to have some nice fish dinners and going home with their limits. Fishing improved as the week went on. The water temperature is at 43 degrees, which is optimum for walleye fishing. Rick and I may get out this weekend!

Bob Dice boated this nice 28 1/2" walleye today. He was fishing with Phil Dice and Sid Gustafson and they limited today. Jon and John finished up fishing today with a total of 70 to 80 fish boated. Jon said fishing is just starting to get good!

Water temperature seems to be staying consistent, around 43 - 45 degrees. Wayne Herwig's group along with Phil Dice's group are catching fish, although no big ones as of yet. Jon and John, along with Cory are still producing lots. This morning Jon released a 27 1/2" and some 25 to 26", as did Cory releasing the 25 to 26 inchers. Jon figured he boated 30 fish himself today!
