I’d like to report more but there’s not much change. Anglers are getting a few here and there at prime times in the morning and evening, but the walleye haven’t been real active.
Weather patterns continue to change almost daily. Cold one day warmer the next and snow almost every other day. Ice remains 9-12 inches on the river with quite a bit of snow over it and slush in between. The dam opened and reports are that there is some debris passing through now
Hopefully this month we can get in a more stable weather pattern for longer periods of time so the bite can pick up.
Some anglers have moved a little shallower to about 8-10 ft and have done better than the deeper areas.

Have a very Merry Christmas!
We’ve been enjoying a little family time around here lately and it’s been nice. Christmas is tomorrow already and we hope everyone has a Happy Holiday.
It’s been just like January up here lately with very cold temps and wind chills. And with snow that just keeps piling up! Well over a foot now!
Ice has been fine for 4 wheelers and smaller houses as of recently out on the river. Ice depth on the river ranges from 9-12 inches now with lots of slush on top. All this snow makes for slow ice making and on moving water we don’t need things to slow the process.
Fishing has been sporadic like the weather. Some night’s are better than others with walleye in the 15″-17″ range and a few 24″. 17′-18′ depths are best.
Have a safe and Happy Holiday!

Whether it will be a white Christmas or not is no longer under debate! Wow is it snowing out!
We’ve had a couple anglers out this weekend. One group had a total of nine good size walleye (17″-19″) Another group struggled a bit.
Ice in the bay is between 12 and 14 inches and just out front it’s around 7 inches. The boys didn’t quite get to the middle of the river yet, had a little stability scare. As usual there’s good spots and “iffy” spots on the river. For the most part 4-wheelers and lighter fish houses are on the river without incident. We’re hoping we’ll have enough ice to safely put the bigger houses out around or just after Christmas, it’s cold enough!

Art was out fishing on the river now! Caught a few walleye and sauger too

biggest was 17 inches.
Ice thickness near Silver Creek (miles west of us) was about 5.5 inches and out in front in us was still only about 4 inches.
The cold weather not going above freezing in the near future should help build the thickness though. B-r-r-r!

The river still doesn’t have enough ice to get out on yet but it shouldn’t be long. We hear anglers are ice fishing on the Lake at 4 mile bay and there are also ice houses in the Baudette Bay. We’ll keep you posted on when we can get out on the river!

The river is now beginning to build ice. And we’re getting things ready around here for the ice fishing season. Of course I can’t wait! First ice is always fun!
Everyone have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

As the open water season winds down there’s still a little time to get out on the water but time is getting limited now. The river remains open but the bay now has ice and creeks emptying in the river are also ice covered.
The river is still up a bit, but clear. We’ve heard reports of anglers doing well by the Franz Jevne landing and around the rapidsbetween there and Birchdale. Sizes vary but not many trophy’s have been reported this year. Days out on the water have been chilly with highs only barely hitting 30 degrees. So if your planning a last minute open water trip nows your chance just bring all your winter gear!
This is the last weekend of deer season (rifle) and the hunters here have had a great hunting season.

Hunting is still going well
Fishing has been quite but not from slow fishing, just not many anglers fighting the snow, rain and wind we’ve had lately.
Small creeks have been icing over recently and it won’t be long we’ll be building ice all through the river and Lake for the winter season.

Hunting season is in full swing and there’s some great hunting up here. Just ask Josh here
Over the weekend we finally got a cold snap that normally would hit us sooner in the season. With the rain and cold most guests stuck to hunting on land vs fishing out on the open water. The river got churned up a bit and it also picked up the pace, but not bad.
This cooler weather should cool the water temp and get the bigger majority of the lake walleye moving again. The groups that did go out this weekend caught walleye, (keepers and 20″-26″) but we’d like to see more numbers and more 30+ !
Weather stays cool this week

but no major patterns. Still plenty of open water fishing left! And lots of hunting as well!
