We got a full house this weekend so hopefully many upcoming great pics too! We got some looking for sturgeon and some for walleye and the rest looking for anything biting!

I myself have stocked up on my spinners and ready for walleye!

Although Friday may have a passing shower the rest of the weekend looks great!

Ever had one of those days where the person fishing in the same boat as you gets all the fish and you get to watch?  That was my Saturday, lol! Weather was gorgeous though and walleye were biting. This 24 inch walleye was our (Rob’s) biggest, since I couldn’t catch a cold   He also limited with walleye ranging from 13-14 inches. Teri couldn’t get the walleye to bite but ended up with 4 sauger, you don’t see that often.  It’s hard to say why I had trouble but here was the difference in how we were fishing…. I was using jigs (3/8oz is plenty) and they were using spinners. I should have switched, lol.  They caught them on both crawlers and minnows and bright colors or just plain silver seemed to be best. Depth ranged from 18-19 feet.

Smallies were active along the shoreline this weekend as well.

Sturgeon are biting and they only get more active the closer we get to fall. Here  are two 49″ keepers!

In between the occasional thunderstorm

July 1st the sturgeon season opened again until the end of September. As the summer wears on the bite gets better and better closer we come to fall.

The fish go deeper the warmer the weather so look for deeper holes this time of year. A deeper spot in the Rainy will be around 25 feet give or take.

Fishing has been quiet except for the northern. They are usually active year round Art caught a 38″ right the dock, but I had the camera out of town with me, oops.

Walleye are usually deeper this time of year and make you work a little harder in the river.

Crawlers are usually the best for bait this time of year and the sturgeon sure like them

Camp is full this Memorial Day weekend and small mouth bass is usually the most active bite this time of year.  Not only in the bay and Rainy River but up the Rapid River as well.

We have gotten some much needed rain to lift the water level but this weekend is looking beautiful for some great fishing! Have a great weekend!
