We're still sitting with the open water around mile marker 150 (the big blue silo). It has some open spots beyond but it looks like Frontier will still be at least a couple days yet. They were putting large boats in at Birchdale then today it got tricky, shore ice breaking off from up river lodged itself at Birchdale and froze, the anglers today broke a trail through to get out to the water and headed west. It's a beautiful day and the weather's stable, hopefully we'll hear of some big walleye soon! One person asked about the Fork Rivers and the last time I was as far east as the Big and Little Forks they were broken in spots, maybe some of that ice that came down the river in front of Birchdale was from them, I'm not sure. I have some anglers up that way today and I'll ask them how they looked. I do know the water levels have steadied there.Thursday, April 05, 2007
