Fishing Reports

Anglers this morning went out in all the fog from the warmer temps and had a very productive morning catching mostly walleye and a couple sauger. Later in the evening the bite was back and they all had a great time. I was out as well and was doing well and got a bite that felt a little heavy I pulled it up to see a HUGE walleye open it's mouth and fan it's gills a big as the hole! I can't tell you how exciting it was I knew this was my mounter! I don't know who eyes were wider me, my son or this fish! But of course it ends like most fish stories. With my heart pounding I got the head up the hole, which seemed to take all of the 10" hole in the ice, and my line broke. I watched in disbelief as my mounter swam away in slow motion with my jig still in it's mouth. Lucky for me the water clarity is excellent this year so I got to watch it vividly. Been there? Felt that? Ouch! We're hoping the next cold front coming starting this weekend will give us the little bit more of ice we need to get our larger houses out for rent.
